Fiscal Year 2011 and 2012 Federal Budget
Congress has been working to approve a Fiscal Year 2011 budget while operating at last year's spending levels (called continuing resolution). At the same time, the White House has just released its suggested federal budget for the 2012 Fiscal Year. While law-makers are in discussions, there have been many indicators that budgets for community block grants, affordable housing programs and homeless services will be slashed. There is potential with some of the budgets cuts for thousands of families to lose their homes and thousands more lose access to needed assistance.
